Despite the fact that MetaTrader 5 is increasingly conquering the retail trading market, the popularity of MT4 is still very high. Therefore, we will pay special attention to this platform. So, let's get acquainted with the main options of MetaTrader 4 (especially with those options and functions that are related to automatic trading).
So, after you have logged into the MetaTrader 4 platform, you can get acquainted with its main functionality. We will describe only the functionality that will be useful to you in the process of automatic trading.
The navigator tab is a quick menu of your MT4 platform for selecting trading bots (expert advisors), indicators and switching between your own trading accounts.
The “Terminal” tab will help you open your platform's dashboard where you can see:
- The “Trade” section will display your trading account balance and current trading results.
- In the “Account history” section you can see all closed trading operations and their results.
- In the “Experts” section you can see the system prints that your expert advisor issues during the trading process. In this section, you will be able to promptly identify possible problems with the functioning of your trading bot, which it will try to inform you about. For example, it will display an error code or description of the error.
- In the “Journal” section you can see the system prints of your trading platform.
The “Auto Trading” button is designed to activate the automatic trading mode in your platform.
To select an asset for trading, click on the Market Watch tab. In this tab you can see the current server time, as well as a list of assets.
You can right-click View all to have the platform display all available assets for trading.
To open the quote window, right-click on the selected asset and select Open Chart Window from the drop-down menu.
